We are a group of volunteers working in memory of Sgt. Garrett Brewster, raising awareness of Veteran Suicide and the need to support our Veterans.
Our goal is to support non-profits that assist Veterans and their family members dealing with Post Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, Suicide Risk, adjusting to civilian life and many other challenges facing our veterans.
Our volunteers are made up of family and friends of Sgt. Garrett Brewster, so it is very important to us that we raise awareness and support Veteran's charities.
Garrett Michael Scott Brewster, aka “Brew Daddy,” to many, served in the United States Marine Corps from 2014 to 2018 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He served supporting Combat Operations in Iraq during Operation Inherent Resolve 16.1. While serving, he was acknowledged for his hard work ethic and dedication by his peers and subordinates. He lived his life with the Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
Before joining the Marine Corps, Garrett participated in many sports during his school years, he was very involved & remembered most for his wrestling & baseball achievements. He loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing & hunting, especially turkey hunting he loved turkey hunting. He enjoyed many activities, such as riding 4 wheelers, motorcycles & off roading. Garrett also loved building things & working with his hands.
He was always willing to help others with their projects when he wasn’t working on his own. He enjoyed woodworking, spending much of his time building & refurbishing items for himself & for his friends, he also enjoyed doing various projects and making improvements around his home. Though he was a trained mechanic he had a love/hate relationship working on vehicles, sometimes he loved it, other times well not so much.
Garrett was a great storyteller & for someone who lived such a short life he had a lot of stories to tell. In true Garrett fashion no topic was off limits, whether in his stories, jokes or pranks, at times he would just leave you speechless with no response & nothing but a laugh or a smile on your face. Garrett was known for his quick wit & his laugh. Those of us lucky enough to know his laugh knew it was one of a kind & you could pick it out of a crowd.
He had an ability to make things fun & make others laugh even if it was at his own expense. He would instigate a situation, set back & watch things unfold with that unforgettable quirky little smile. Everyone that knew Garrett knew they could be fair game to his antics. If you had the liberty of serving under him there was probably a chance that you were a victim of his mis-placed humor. His pranks & mischievous nature made you love him or hate him sometimes both, but he was someone you loved to be around because you knew it was going to be a good time and full of laughs.
After the loss of Garrett in 2020 his friends and family wished to have a memorial event in honor of Garrett. It was also important that we had an event that raised awareness about suicide risk and the many other challenges facing our veterans. It was suggested that we have a sporting clays event and that we would donate the proceeds from this event to MISSION 22. So almost 11 months later the First Annual Sgt. Garrett Brewster Memorial Shoot came to be and the Brew Daddy Pull was born. Here we are 5 years later gearing up for our next shoot. The last four events that we have held has raised over $20,000 in donations to Mission 22. We are so thankful for the donations from individuals, local businesses and those that have attended the events over the years.
